What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What Victory loves most about playing his sports is the connections he makes with not only his teammates but other players. He enjoys traveling to new cities and meeting new athletes. He enjoys the challenges and competitiveness. He thrives in environments that cause him to grow physically and mentally. He loves to work and put in the grind. When he sees his growth it excites him to see his hard work pay off.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Victory says that his Dad and I inspire him, we challenge him to be the best version of himself. Our focus is not just on being a student athlete but being a good human being. We encourage his evolution as a sound young man. His emotional intelligence is very important to us and he always tells us that our conversations inspire him to be a leader on the field, the court and in life. His manhood and how he navigates through the world and treats others is most important.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

This last summer season, we lost the semi finals basketball bracket by 1 point. The team was devastated, Victory rallies the team into a circle like huddle. He went around the circle one player at a time and shared how they had improved and what they achieved this summer. He also went to tell them what each player was bringing into the Fall Season and how much stronger that are after this summer. He got them to begin chanting their team name, arm in arm, laughing and looking forward not behind.
