What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

I love how when I’m on the field nothing else matters and I block everything out. I find peace. I love the competitiveness of being an athlete. Having grit! To me Grit, is being the best no matter what the circumstances are, and always over coming the battle that lies ahead! Baseball.. I love batting 3rd/4th in a line up. It comes with a lot of pressure, but pressure is how we as athletes adapt and overcome! Football...a complete team sport, if I don't do my job, we all don't win!

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Jesus, he battled for everything and gave everything and asked no one for anything, except to believe. His parents, they give their all for everyone around them. His grandparents, they show up and give their all, all the time. They never stop fighting for family and love.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

I've coached my son along the way in many sports. He's overcame the father/son & coach/player relationship. He does his job and if he makes a mistake, he's accountable. My proudest moment was this travel baseball season. His team had a losing record, in this one game he Prayed over the team, talked about not giving up no matter what. He played Catcher, 3rd, pitched during that doubleheader. When he was pitching he told me this weight came over him and he knew he had to battle. He never gave up.
