What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

My son loves track and field because it gives him a place to challenge himself, set goals, and see the results of his hard work. He especially loves the 110-meter hurdles because it takes speed, strength, focus, and determination, and he enjoys pushing himself to become better every time he steps on the track. Track has taught him that success does not happen overnight and that setbacks are opportunities to work harder and keep improving. I have watched how passionate he is about the sport.


Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

My son’s passion for track and field has been inspired by two very important people in his life: Jakobe Tharp and his mother. He looks up to Jakobe Tharp because of his dedication, success, and commitment to track and field, and seeing what Jakobe has accomplished motivates him to keep working toward his own goals. At the same time, his mother is one of his biggest sources of motivation because she has always supported him, encouraged him, and believed in him throughout his journey. Together, Ja


What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of the moments that makes me the proudest of my son was when he became the #2 sophomore in the state in the 110-meter hurdles while also breaking his school record. Seeing all of his hard work, dedication, and countless hours of training turn into such a major accomplishment was an incredible moment for me as his mother. I knew how much effort he had put into improving, so watching him reach that level and make his mark in his school’s track and field history meant so much to me. It showed m
