What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Jocelyn fell in love with soccer at age 6 and has worked relentlessly ever since to become a top-level competitive player. She thrives in the team environment, where she can be vocal, lead, and connect with teammates. She loves the travel, the intensity of competition, and testing herself against high-level opponents. Most of all, she treasures the deep feeling of accomplishment that comes from hard work, growth, and shared success on the pitch.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Jocelyn draws inspiration from Virgil van Dijk for his commanding defensive presence, leadership, composure, and ability to dominate while organizing the back line—qualities she strives to embody as a center back. She is also motivated by the rapid rise of the women’s game, its higher level of play, and growing fan interest, which shows her the expanding opportunities ahead. Most of all, her parents inspire her daily with their unwavering support, sacrifices, and belief in her dreams.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The Mexico U17 call-up stands as the proudest moment in Jocelyn’s athletic journey. Watching her earn a spot on the national team training camp after years of dedication, versatility across positions, and relentless improvement filled me with immense pride. It validated her high soccer IQ, physicality, and leadership while opening doors to international competition.
