What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreJoel loves the challenge of getting better. Whether he’s learning a new basketball move, making a play in football, scoring in soccer, or improving his skills in karate and boxing, he loves seeing his hard work pay off. Most of all, he enjoys competing, being part of a team, making new friends, and having fun. Joel isn’t afraid to try something new, make mistakes, learn from them, and come back ready to improve.
Joel is inspired by great athletes who work hard, stay confident, and never stop improving. He especially looks up to athletes like Stephen Curry because of his dedication, skill, and belief in himself. Off the field, his family, coaches, and teammates inspire him by encouraging him to keep learning, stay humble, and give his best effort. Joel is learning that being a great athlete isn’t just about winning—it’s about character, discipline, and perseverance.
What makes us proudest isn’t one trophy or one big play—it’s watching Joel continue to challenge himself. He has stepped onto basketball courts, football fields, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, and into karate and boxing training ready to learn. Even when something is difficult, he keeps showing up and working. Watching him become more confident, disciplined, and determined while still having fun reminds us that his biggest victories are the person he’s becoming.
