What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Joel enjoys seeing the success from the hard work that he puts into his hockey and all sports that he plays. He is very determined to continue hockey when older while working hard at school (making that his #1 priority). He has juggled all of this very well at ease. He enjoys to ref hockey & soccer while watching the game in another way, as well having the opportunity to volunteer helping out younger teams at their try-outs.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

He is very inspired by his older brother who is very passionate about sports. He sees him being resilient and overcome challenges with a positive attitude knowing that he is a talented hockey player and athlete. He also enjoys watching older players by seeing where they have started and where they are at today etc. This inspires him when he sees those that play various levels, have had challenges along the way, but continue to work hard & make it to much higher various levels.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The one moment in Joel's athletic journey that makes him the proudest was playing competitive hockey his first year as the only underage player on his team as well the only AAA underage player in his area asked to try-out and then become affiliated to the team. He was proud to be able to have this opportunity and have the ability to go out with no fear and compete to his best abilities making him compete at a very high level while having a great time.
