Josefa is inspired by athletes who use sport to make a difference beyond competition. Her own experiences taught her how difficult tryouts and competitive environments can be for young athletes. That inspired her to help build a volleyball club where girls of all levels are welcomed, encouraged, and given the opportunity to develop, compete, and discover their potential.
One of my proudest moments has been watching Josefa turn important matches around when her team needed her most. She came to Canada from Chile with no volleyball background and found an opportunity here to discover and grow in the sport. Seeing her develop the confidence to step up under pressure, compete fearlessly, and become a player her teammates can rely on makes me incredibly proud.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
