What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreJoseph loves that he’s part of a whole. One member of the “family” working hard to achieve personal and team goals. He also likes seeing and feeling the rewards of his hard work.
Joseph’s biggest inspirations, both on and off the field, are his dad, Ben Rice, and Tyler Warren. His dad has often been his coach and is always his biggest fan, teaching him the value of hard work and commitment. He also looks up to Ben and Tyler because they lead quietly, let their work speak for them, and were underestimated before proving everyone wrong, qualities Joseph tries to carry into his own athletic journey.
Last year his baseball league was in trouble and the team fell apart at the last minute. Meaning, he wouldn’t have had a place to play since it was too late to tryout for another town or club. He approached us (his parents) and asked if we could try and salvage the team. The three of us immediately went to work. Joseph recruited players, his father agreed to coach and I approached the league board. Within a week we had a team, and they ended up winning the championship. He doesn’t give up. Ever.
