What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreFor Josh, it is the team camaraderie that he enjoys most. On his high school lacrosse team, trust your brother and accountability are the two big themes. He loves walking on the field with his brothers knowing every teammate has his back and knowing that they are each going to do their job. On and off the field, the camaraderie and brotherhood make the experience for Josh.
At Seton Hall Prep, Josh made the varsity lacrosse team in 10th grade, in a backup role. However, the senior class that year looked at Josh's class as the future of the program and treated them as such. They took the boys under their wing. They pushed them on and off the field to be the best versions of themselves, to represent the program well, and to be the kind of men that treat everyone with respect. Josh carries those lessons with him and tries to emulate that with younger guys.
The moment that made us the proudest was not a championship or an accolade. It was a decision to challenge himself. Josh decided to transfer to Seton Hall Prep for 10th grade despite making varsity as a freshman in our town, a much more difficult path. Rather than a 5min bus ride to school, he road the train 1hr to and from school, boarding the train at 7AM/returning at 6PM. The academic work load was harder. Lacrosse was more demanding. It was the best decision and he is a better person for it.
