What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

JJ loves basketball. He's an accomplished soccer player as well. But basketball is his passion. He had led his team to championships in both sports. Hes won a 3 point competition and free throw competition before. He also won the Kathy Stone scholarship for his elite ability! He loves the competitiveness and sportsmanship. He loves having his friends on his team even if it requires him to work harder to pull his team to victory. He plain as day just loves the game of basketball!

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

He is inspired by everything around him. I love basketball and he fell in love with it as well! He watches any player from the NBA, to college, to his competitors in different leagues. When he sees something new, he practices non stop. Most kids have a desire to play in the pros. His dream is to put on the Duke Blue Devils uniform! His questioning attitude to why did this player go right, why did he pass it there.......hes not only willing to put in the work but he studies his passion too!

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

I'm very proud of his hard work! But one of the proudest moments was when he was in 3rd grade. He competed with my nephew in a town an hour away in a league that didn't make their teams even in talent. One team was undefeated for 3 seasons. We lost the first time against them by 8 points. We were up 3 points in game two. We had to beat them by a total of 9. JJ hit back to back 3 pointers in the final minute to win the game by 9 and give that team their first loss in 3 seasons. So proud!
