What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Josiah chose soccer at just 4 years old, and he’s never looked back. What began as a childhood love has grown into a passion that challenges him to become better every day. From local fields to competing at the ECNL level, earning Select Team opportunities and playing internationally in Spain, he loves that soccer constantly gives him another level to chase. For Josiah, every practice, match, and opportunity is a chance to prove how far dedication, discipline and love for the game can take him.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

My son is inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappé—their discipline, sacrifice and relentless pursuit of greatness. He had me watch Ronaldo’s documentary, and it changed how I approached his journey. I followed the example of Ronaldo’s father: finding the best coaching I could, fighting for opportunities and believing in his potential. He studies Mbappé’s speed, movement and confidence, but Ronaldo taught us both that talent opens doors—work ethic keeps them open.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

My proudest moment wasn’t a goal, trophy or selection—it was watching my son balance three soccer teams while earning Principal’s Honor Roll three times last school year. Through practices, games, travel, and growing opportunities, he never let soccer become an excuse to fall behind in the classroom. What makes me proudest is that success hasn’t changed him. He remains humble, coachable and hungry to improve, and that means more to me than any medal ever could.
