What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Being able to play alongside of her team. Learning, not only the game but about herself. It challenges her to work hard, never give up, and have fun doing she loves to do! The sport has become more than just a game it has helped her grow as a person. Learning new skills, learning how to compete. She enjoys the fast paced, and the value of team work. She loves to embrace not only herself but her coaches and her teammates!

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

God is the recipe- and she knows that never changes. Her faith comes first- always. Journie has learned that putting god first in everything she does has helped her grow on and off the field. After a tough game she said “I prayed so hard for my team, coaches, and he never fails me!” Her faith inspires her to stay humble, work hard, and trust God’s plan. She is also Inspired by her Ohana, coaches, and teammates, whose love, supports, and encouragement motivate her everyday.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Journie’s humble heart. When games get tough, she doesn’t fight fire with fire- she competes with heart, respect, and integrity. She encourages everyone on the field including her opponents. Every rep she puts in Tues-Sat shows her dedication and prepares her for game day. Win or lose, she gives her best, stays positive, and never lets the outcome define her character.
