What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What she loves most is her team, her coaches and how it makes her feel. Her growth in the game and softball IQ allows her the confidence to lead her team from behind the plate and gain their trust during the game. Her coaches empower her and constantly push her to grow into her fullest potential. This game has given her an identity that only doing something you truly love can do. Knowing her teammates look to her as a leader on and off the field makes her feel special and validated.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

I feel that one of her biggest inspirations off the field is her father. Seeing his face every time she makes a great play or has a great hit truly makes Kacey feel special! Having played baseball in his youth, he always helps push Kacey and yet keep her grounded & humble in her sport. On the field, I would say is her coach, Mary. Mary has helped Kacey grow into an amazing player, teammate & leader. Constantly pushing Kacey and always setting the bar higher, Mary has helped her be her best!

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

When she tried out for USA Softball All-American. She practiced and put in so much time leading up to the tryouts. She did AMAZING at tryouts. Then a couple weeks later, the coach called and invited her to play!! He told her that she was #16 out of over 320 girls from across the region. She was so excited and I was so proud that all her hard-work paid off! She got to go to OKC and play on the same field, Devon Park, as the WCWS!!
