What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What I love most about basketball is playing with my team. Winning is always great, but I think learning from our losses is just as important because they help us get better. I love how competitive basketball is and how it pushes me to improve. I also enjoy meeting and playing against people from different places and all different ages. Every game gives me a chance to learn something new.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

My grandpa inspires me the most. He practices basketball with me and comes outside to train with me, even though he is 80 years old. He would do anything to see me become the best player and person I can be. Knowing that he believes in me and is willing to put in the work with me motivates me to work harder and never give up.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of the moments that makes me proudest is when Kai made the decision to move to a new team. He had been with his previous team since he was little, so making a change was a big step. I’m proud of him for being open to a new challenge and embracing an opportunity to grow. His new team has kept him motivated while teaching him the importance of development, learning, teamwork, and giving back to the community. It has been amazing to watch him grow through the experience.
