What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreWhat I think he loves most about playing basketball is the competition and the drive to make it big. He has such a strong desire to reach the highest level, and I know there’s also a fear of not making it that pushes him even harder. He loves competing, challenging himself, and proving what he can do. As his mom, I see how much the game means to him and how badly he wants to succeed.
His biggest inspiration is his family, especially his mom and dad. They’ve supported him, sacrificed for him, and pushed him to keep going even when things get difficult. Seeing how hard they work motivates him to work just as hard and make them proud. On the court, he’s also inspired by the players who came from nothing and made it to the highest level through hard work and perseverance.
One of the moments that makes me proudest is watching him win the U17 National Championship with Team Ontario while playing up an age group. Seeing him compete against older players, trust himself, and help his team win a national championship was such a proud moment for me. It showed me how much his hard work and dedication have paid off.
