Kamara is a pitcher. She had an outstanding season this year and got first place in the league and threw her first no hitter
Thank you for supporting Kamara in this competition. Your participation made a huge impact for the Why Not You Foundation and their mission to empower change in the world, one individual at a time and one child at a time.
What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreAs a pitcher, she’s right in the middle of the action. Every pitch is a chance to compete, challenge hitters, and help her team succeed. It’s a position that requires confidence and focus, which many kids really enjoy. Pitchers often take pride in learning new pitches, throwing strikes, and getting stronger with each season. Seeing herself get better is very rewarding.
One of my daughter’s biggest inspirations is Mikie Lieving, the pitcher for Ohio University. As an 11-year-old pitcher, she looks up to Mikie for her dedication, confidence, and competitive spirit. Watching Mikie compete at a high level motivates her to work hard at every practice, continue developing her pitching skills, and always give her best effort on the field.
Seeing Kamara step onto the pitching mound with confidence, knowing she has earned that opportunity through hard work, determination, and perseverance. Watching her support her teammates, overcome challenges, and continue to love the game—regardless of the outcome—would mean more to me than any trophy.
