What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Volleyball has become her safe place. A place were she is able to be herself, be part of a team, built relationships, and enjoy competition. She enjoys challenging herself, but also taking on new challenges. She is eager to learn new skills, work hard and then return that to the youth as a role model. She is always ready to step into the court to leave it all and contribute something bigger than herself. Volleyball has given her strength, discipline, perseverance, and love for the sport.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

The person who has inspired her to play on the field is her family. She has grown up in a single mother household, were everything we have, we have worked for. She is inspired by her siblings, as she understand they are always watching her work hard and reach her potential. She looks up to college players who too have gone through mental health struggles or health struggles. She is one grateful athlete who uses the sport to gear her direction in life.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One moment in her athletic journey that made me the proudest was when she discovered her mental health situation and used that to become stronger. She got so much strength her coaches and media noticed, giving her the first ever freshman, playing in Varsity article in the city. She then realized how strong of a player she is, and no matter the circumstances of her mind, she persevered.
