What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Keilyn loves competing. Football, basketball and track give him different opportunities to push himself and discover just how good he can become. What changed most after moving to Lee's Summit was his understanding that talent alone isn't enough. Being surrounded by stronger competition made him hungry to work harder. He loves making big plays, from touchdowns to multiple pick-sixes, but even more, he loves seeing the work he puts in turn into results.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Calvin Green has inspired Keilyn since age 4, when he first welcomed him onto the field. Raised by a single mother caring for several children, Calvin went on to play D1 football, then returned home to pour that experience into kids like Keilyn. As his coach and mentor, he is living proof of where hard work can lead and the importance of giving back. Keilyn also carries his late cousin Maurice, who believed deeply in his potential.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

I can't choose one moment because what makes me proudest isn't a touchdown or one of his multiple pick-sixes. I moved Keilyn from small-town Parsons, KS, mid-6th grade, away from everything he knew. He missed an entire football season and entered a much larger, more competitive school. Instead of shrinking, he went to work. Watching that challenge transform his work ethic, athletic ability and grades has made me prouder than any single play ever could.
