He enjoys being part of a team, learning from every practice, and proving to himself that he can overcome obstacles. Even when he doesn't get the playing time he hopes for, his love for the sport keeps him coming back every day. His determination and passion motivate him to keep working, improving, and believing in himself.
Kelvon is inspired by the people who believe in him and encourage him to never give up. He is especially inspired by his hardworking mother (me), who was an athlete herself growing up and lost both of her parents at a young age and who works very hard to take care of him and his sister. His biggest motivation comes from knowing that hard work, patience and determination can help him overcome any obstacle. One moment that makes me proudest is when Kelvon chose to keep showing up to practice and compete despite being bullied and feeling discouraged. Instead of giving up, he pushed through the season, stayed committed to training, and achieved a personal best that reflected his hard work and determination. Seeing him turn a difficult time into growth showed me how strong and resilient he truly is.
