What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreShe loves the joy and challenge of softball and gymnastics. Whether she’s learning a new skill in the gym or stepping up to the plate, she loves seeing what she can accomplish through practice and determination. More than winning, she enjoys being part of a team, encouraging her teammates, and proving to herself that something difficult today can become something she’s capable of tomorrow.
Her greatest inspiration is her twin brother, who was not as fortunate in their fight to survive after they entered the world at just 1 lb. 4 oz. Although she never had the opportunity to grow up alongside him, his memory is forever part of her story. She carries him with her as a reminder to embrace every opportunity, keep fighting when things get difficult, and make the most of the life she fought so hard to live.
Watching her growth in softball makes me incredibly proud. There was a time she stepped up to the plate without making contact, but she never quit. She kept practicing, swinging, and believing. Today, I watch that same little girl drive balls into the outfield. I’m proud of the hits, but even prouder of what they represent: perseverance, confidence, determination, and her refusal to give up when something doesn’t come easily.
