What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreWhat I love most about playing sports is meeting new people, making new connections, and having the opportunity to showcase my talent and hard work to others.
Caleb Downs has influenced me both on and off the field. On the field, he may not be the biggest player, but he still makes a huge impact through his talent, effort, and determination. Off the field, he shows what it means to be a great person and role model through his Downs Trust Foundation. The foundation focuses on combating homelessness, fighting food insecurity, and mentoring youth in communities across Dallas, Atlanta, Columbus, and Indianapolis.
The moment that made me realize my hard work was paying off was when I made varsity as a freshman and started getting reps. I have been working hard and playing football since I was 6 years old, so being able to compete at the varsity level showed me that all those years of dedication, sacrifice, and effort were worth it. Getting the opportunity to play with and against older athletes gave me confidence and motivated me to keep working toward my goals.
