What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

He loves the history and heritage of America’s oldest sport, but his favorite thing is standing in the crease and having the responsibility of being a net minder. It has built his mental toughness, leadership and resilient, “no-quit” attitude. Plus, he absolutely lives for the adrenaline rush of stopping a 90mph ball flying right at him, and he definitely gets a kick out of the sheer satisfaction of knowing the opposing shooters are losing their minds trying to get just one shot past him!

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

He told me that I inspire him. Specifically, my military service inspiring his desire to lead and strength to never quit on the field. It has been my greatest honor coaching him in the position we both play. Off the field, his brother is his ultimate hero. Watching his brother face Cerebral Palsy w/ a positive attitude teaches him to never take a day for granted. His leadership, empathy and drive are entirely rooted in the resilience inspired by his brother’s positive outlook through adversity.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

My proudest moment isn’t a single play, but seeing my son’s character in action. I am incredibly proud of his resiliency in setbacks, his humility in victory, and how he owns his mistakes & grows from them. Most of all, his dedication to leadership and inclusion defines the young man he’s become. He doesn’t just play to win; he leads by lifting others up, ensuring every teammate feels valued. Watching him build a stronger, united team is my ultimate proudest moment as a parent.
