What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Laney loves being part of a team and the feeling of working together toward something bigger than herself. She is competitive and loves to win, but she also loves the friendships, the memories, and pushing herself to get better. Whether it’s volleyball, basketball, or soccer, she genuinely loves being involved and representing her school.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Laney is inspired by the people who work hard even when no one is watching. She looks up to athletes and people in her own life who don’t give up when things get difficult. She has learned that success isn’t always about being the most talented person in the room—it’s about showing up, putting in the work, being a good teammate, and continuing to believe in yourself. Laney has learned that in order to be great it’s something you have to put in the work and the effort no matter what.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Seeing Laney asked to play varsity soccer and basketball games while still in middle school was incredibly special. But watching her earn her spot on the high school volleyball team has been just as rewarding. She started volleyball later and has had to continually work hard and prove she deserves to be on the court. I’m also proud of how coachable she has become. She hasn’t always taken criticism well, but she’s learned to listen, make adjustments, and use feedback to become a better athlete.
