What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

For Leilani, sports are about much more than winning they’re about commitment, teamwork, and the people who make the journey unforgettable.Leilani loves the game itself and thrives on the competitive nature of both softball and basketball. She embraces every challenge and is always eager to give her best effort. What she values most, however, is being part of a team. The friendships she’s built with her teammates and the relationships she’s formed with her coaches mean everything to her.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Leilani is inspired most by her mom. Watching her single mother work hard, overcome challenges, and always put her family first has taught her the value of perseverance, determination, and resilience. She also looks up to her coaches, who encourage her to believe in herself, work hard, and be a supportive teammate both on and off the field.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The moment that makes me proudest was when we moved from Oklahoma to Indiana. Because of her age and the timing of the move, Leilani couldn’t play softball and had to join a baseball team instead. She stepped out of her comfort zone, worked hard, earned the respect of her teammates, and never complained. Watching her adapt with courage, resilience, and determination showed me that she can overcome any challenge placed in front of her.
