What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreLiam loves playing being out there on the rink whether it is roller or ice. He gets to practice his skating, his shooting and different tricks and moves. Liam knows he is a miracle, doctors said he may never walk, talk or eat normal. He is jumping over these hurdles as best he can!
A lot of people inspire Liam to be the best he can be, his family, his love of the game, his teammates for Ice hockey and roller hockey, coaches and the New York Islanders. But most of all I think Liam’s biggest inspiration is himself. When he sees he can do it he becomes proud of himself and he tries even harder the next time.
My proudest moment was the BBC rat goal he ever scored! Watching him struggle each day with his delays and disability is hard but he worked day and night to learn to roller skate and ice skate. Seeing him score his first goal during a roller hockey game brought tears to my eyes. Seeing each goal since does the same thing!!
