What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

She says-I love being with my teammates and trying my hardest every game. It’s fun learning new skills and seeing myself get better. I like cheering for my friends when they do something awesome, and I love when we all work together. Winning is exciting, but my favorite part is having fun and being part of a team.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Sha’Carri Richardson inspires me because I love watching videos of her from when she was a kid. It makes me think, “That could be me someday.” I also love watching the Ninja Kidz on Youtube because it’s amazing what they can do. She says; My mom inspires me too because after every game, win or lose, she gives me a pep talk and asks what I did well and what I can do better.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Last year she chose to play with girls two years older. I warned her it would be tough, but she looked at me and said, “Mom, this feels right.” She embraced the challenge and never backed down. Even as one of the youngest, smallest players with asthma, she perseveres. She encourages teammates, celebrates others’ successes, advocates for herself, and refuses to let anyone tell her she has to choose just one sport. I’m proud of her courage, grit, and kindness.
