What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

The friends that you make and the relationships that you can build. He has made life long friends that he would have never met if it weren't for sports. Also the physical and mental benefits that you get.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Connor McDavid inspires me both on and off. He is a good person, a family man and is humble. He has a great work ethic and keeps pushing himself and his team to grow and challenge themselves to do better and be better. He leads by example and motivates his team to be better hockey players and leaders.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

My proudest moment came last year when Lucas was struggling on a new team. He was playing less and less, but he never let disappointment change his attitude. He continued to arrive early, stay late, help his coaches, encourage his teammates and give everything he had. He never quit. One coach told me, “If our whole team had Lucas’ work ethic and attitude, we would win everything.” I was proud of the athlete he was becoming and even prouder of the person he chose to be.
