What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Luci plays basketball and volleyball. She mostly just loves being with her teammates and friends. She can score from anywhere as a post player but she loves defense. She focuses on rebounds and blocks and it drives her every game. She loves drawling a double team and letting her teammates get open for a shot. She shoots every night and goes to practice four time a week. She lives for basketball!

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

I think the thing that inspires her most off the court is being able to beat her older brothers one on one! They don’t like that! Her mom and I support her and do everything we can to get her to games and practices. Luci is an unstoppable light. Always positive and hard working. She is inspired seeing female athletes in college and the pros. She never misses a Fever or UC game. She loves winning and being a great teammate. She says the team comes first Dad!

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

I coached Luci’s school team her 3rd grade year. We won the league championship going 13-0. However, the proudest moment in that whole season was when Luci stole the ball and ran down the court and suddenly stopped under the basket. She turned and handed the ball to her friend Angel who had never scored and was playing for the first time. Luci boxed out everyone else so Angel could score and she did! The crowd went wild and everyone came over to Luci and told her what an amazing thing she did.
