What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Lyla loves the challenge of pushing herself beyond what she thought was possible. She embraces the process of setting goals, working hard, and celebrating the small victories that lead to big accomplishments. She loves learning new skills, expressing herself through dance, and the discipline gymnastics has taught her. Most of all, she treasures the friendships, encouragement, and sense of belonging both sports have given her.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Lyla has always looked up to Suni Lee. Having faced health challenges herself, Lyla is inspired by Suni’s resilience and determination. She admires Suni’s calm, positive attitude, grit, strength, grace, and the way she refuses to let life’s challenges define her. Beyond her incredible technique, Suni’s humility, confidence, and poise on and off the mat remind Lyla that great athletes are defined by character, resilience, and kindness, not just medals.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

While I’m proud of Lyla’s accomplishments, the moments that mean the most have nothing to do with medals or scores. I’m proudest of her ability to respectfully advocate for herself, push through fear, and persevere when things get hard. Her resilience, determination, and unwavering dedication to her goals continue to inspire me. She reminds me every day that true success is measured by character, not just achievements.
