What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreKenzie is a very special student athlete. She loves competing and found that sports is a great way to do that using her athleticism and work ethic. She has been playing sports with me her dad since she was 4 years old and especially loves team sports where she works with her teammates toward a common goal. Sports has allowed her to meet people and make friends as she was shy when she was younger. She loves the process of working hard toward a goal especially with teammates.
Kenzie has been through alot for her young age. When she was 7 years old I was diagnosed with Leukemia and has battled cancer twice. She has seen her family in a difficult time dealing with real life issues and her dad very ill. Of course this affected the family in every way. Throughout the process, her parents encouraged the family to bond through faith in God and continue to do what she loves and sports gave her some normalcy and a positive outlet. She says her family inspires her.
Kenzie is most proud of leading her team in the Arizona 5A state playoffs in her sophomore season all the way to the state championship. She played her very best in the biggest games and has stepped up her level in the biggest moments through her mental strength and heart which we feel was built through the real world challenges she has been through.
