What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreArchery is primarily a sport of self-competition where her progress is measured against her own personal bests rather than directly against opponents, making growth clear and personal. Because shot execution relies heavily on technique rather than raw athletic speed or endurance, she really likes that people of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds can enjoy it equally.
She looks up to archer Paige Pierce. Paige started her archery career in the same organizations as Maddison. Paige always takes time to help educate others in archery and understand the ins and outs of fine tuning your equipment. She aways takes time to meet the younger generation of archers at ever event she is at. She is overall a nice person who invests in the success of others.
A couple of years ago she developed a lot of anxiety on the archery range. She could have let that get the best of her. She could have continued to struggle, but she decided to invest in the mental aspects of the sport and retrain her thought processes. She has not only been successful but is able to effortlessly use the tools she developed to be successful.
