Malachi

What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Malachi loves the friendships, competition, and challenge that come with playing sports. He enjoys pushing himself to improve, tracking his stats, and being part of a community that motivates him. Most importantly, he understands that sports are teaching him valuable life lessons--discipline, teamwork, resilience, confidence, and how to work toward goals that will serve him well both on and off the field.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Malachi is inspired by the greatest athletes who are willing to outwork everyone around them. In basketball, he looks up to Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Steph Curry, and Victor Wembanyama. He admires their talent, but even more, their discipline, work ethic, resilience, and drive to keep improving. They show him that greatness comes from how hard you are willing to work.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Malachi’s first year of wrestling makes me especially proud. He started on JV with only a few months of experience on the mat, but he never let that define him or weaken his confidence. Instead, he worked hard, stayed mentally strong, and ultimately won the state championship in his division. It showed me that when Malachi sets his mind to something, he refuses to give up and believes he can achieve anything.
