What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreBella loves the challenge of tennis. Every match and every practice is an opportunity to improve. She studies what went well, remembers the mistakes she made, and pays close attention to her opponents' strengths and weaknesses. She uses those lessons to become a smarter, more confident player each time she steps on the court. For Bella, success isn't just about winning... it's about getting better every single day.
Bella's biggest inspiration started at home. Although I tried introducing her to tennis when she was four, she wasn't interested until she watched me win two local tournaments last fall. Seeing that inspired her to pick up a racquet and dream of winning tournaments herself. She also admires Gael Monfils for his creativity and athleticism, Venus Williams for her strength and determination, and Naomi Osaka for her resilience and confidence.
The moment that makes me proudest isn't a trophy, it's her determination. She began playing tennis in January and wanted to compete by April, even though she couldn't serve consistently. Instead of getting discouraged, she made serving part of every practice and refuses to leave the court without working on it. Today she has competed in two tournaments. While she hasn't won yet, her confidence and serve have improved tremendously, proving that perseverance matters more than immediate results.
