What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Malik loves to compete! When he’s on the court it’s his happy place, basketball is fun and allows him to just be in the moment doing what he loves!

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Malik is inspired by AJ Dybansta. He’s inspired by him because he’s been watching him since Malik was young and now that he’s older he plays a lot alike him. Plus he like his business mindset.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One moment in Malik’s journey that makes him the proudest thus far, was last years HS basketball season (‘25-‘26) where his team Oakland HS was 0&15 to start the season. They didn’t win district game the year before (‘24-‘25), to becoming the district champs last season coming back from beginning season deficit where others counted Malik & his team out, to end up being the district champ winners of ‘25-‘26 season. Also Malik was named the district player of the year then as well.
