What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What Maristela loves most about basketball is the journey of improving. She enjoys challenging herself, learning from every experience, and seeing her growth as a player and person. She’s met amazing teammates, friends, and mentors through the game. She also loves setting goals and working towards them. Basketball is something she truly enjoys, and she’s excited to keep growing and see where it takes her.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

The person who inspires Maristela most is her little sister, Maddalena. She has been through more challenges than most kids her age, but she continues to fight, stay strong, and never give up. Watching Maddalena face each day with courage has taught Maristela that strength isn’t about never struggling, it’s about continuing to move forward. She carries that lesson with her every time she steps on the basketball court.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The moment Maristela is most proud of in her athletic journey so far is winning the PA Middle School State Gold Division Championship. It was special because of everything the team put into getting there. They worked hard, faced tough competition, and stayed together through every challenge. Holding that championship trophy with her teammates was a moment she’ll never forget. It showed her what can happen when you believe in each other, work hard, and never give up.
