As the point guard, Mason understands that putting his teammates in the right spots, encouraging them when they need it, and supporting them good, bad or indifferent, is what gives his team the best opportunity to win. He loves that challenge. Since he was little, he's always been a leader. He was even voted by his teachers, "Most likely to be a Leader!"
Stephen Curry is his biggest inspiration. He loves that Steph has the audacity to be bold in his faith. He understands that Steph believes, without a shadow of a doubt, in his ability to play the game at the highest level because of his faith in God.
The one moment that makes me the proudest came as a fourth grader. This was the first weekend playing with this team, and he only knew 2 of his teammates. He was playing against a tough team that jumped on his team 11-0. His teammates all looked fearful, so did he for a moment. Then I saw him call the other 4 on the floor in a huddle. When they broke the huddle, he put the fear of God in the other team. He scored 22 of his teams 29 points. Even though they lost, he won the battle against fear.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
