What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreWhat Memphis loves most about Martial Arts is the challenge of it. Every class he learns new techniques and moves. At the end of class they pair up to demonstrate what they just learned. Memphis is a straight A student, in NJHS, plays the saxophone, in band and jazz band at school, and plays all the sports. Everything seems to come natural to him. Except when he first tried Martial Arts. That’s why when it comes to Martial Arts he loves the challenge.
Sensi Kenny has really inspired him through the 3 year commitment to receive his black belt. He always uses Memphis as the example in class. He has showed up to his tournaments to support him and cheer him on. He was invited by his Sensi to train in Georgia with Dan Insano (who he trained with Bruce Lee) Sensi Kenny has been a big part of help shaping Memphis into being a confident, respectful, and responsible young man.
The one moment that made me the proudest in Memphis athletic journey was when he received his black belt. This was a 3 year commitment and he stuck with it even when things got hard. Seeing his determination, perseverance, and dedication makes me so proud. To see the smile on his face when he was handed his black belt made it all worth it.
