My daughter has been giving so much of herself to sports since she was 5 years old. She loves a good team and great competition.

What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreMianne loves playing volleyball and hockey because of the lessons she's learned. Her coaches and her teammates have had an impact in molding her personality. To be a great athlete you need to have a strong mindset and always be ready to work as a team.
Mianne is inspired by great athletes. Athletes that make a difference and never quit even when times are hard. She is inspired by people who never quit and can motivate others when they need help on or off the field
I remember one practice when nothing was going her way and she was letting that affect her confidence. On the drive home I could see that she was very down but she allowed herself to talk about her feelings that night. We talked about life in general and how the hard parts are what makes you stronger and that if it was always easy, nothing would be worth fighting for. She is a fighter now, she knows that learning from your mistakes and rising up is important to improve in your sport.
