Being a goalkeeper has taught me to trust my teammates, communicate, handle pressure, give my best, and keep learning. It has also taught me the importance of belonging, supporting others, and giving back to my community.
On the field, Buffon inspires me because he is one of the greatest goalkeepers in history. I love his belief that defeats can teach us more than victories and that when we lose, we should look at what we can learn and do better. Neymar Jr. inspires me because he creates magic on the field and fights until the very last second. Off the field, my family! They support me, believe in me, and have taught me that what I learn on the field also matters off the field, helping me grow as a person.
When the pressure is at its highest, I’m often more nervous than she is. When the game comes down to a penalty or a crucial save, she finds her focus, trusts herself, and gives everything she has. Watching her face those moments reminds me that being a goalkeeper is teaching her much more than how to play soccer. It is teaching her courage, resilience, and how to believe in herself when it matters most. I’m proud of the person she is becoming, on and off the field.
