What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreAs an African American and Lao/Thai athlete, Myles likes seeing other kids who look like him playing different sports. He loves the competition and challenge of improving his game. He also likes spending time with friends, meeting new teammates and getting the chance to play in different environments.
Justin Jefferson inspires Myles because he works hard, is confident and always competes. He also loves that Justin has fun, is himself and gives back to the community. Off the field, Myles looks up to his older brother and older cousin who practices with him and motivates him to keep getting better and always do his best.
We live in a school district that doesn’t have a lot of diversity & Myles definitely notices that there aren’t many golfers who look like him. I’m most proud that he doesn’t let that hold him back. He’ll still sign up for a new camp or league even if he doesn’t know anyone or feels a little out of place. That’s not always easy at 11 years old. Golf has taught him to get comfortable being uncomfortable. I’ve watched that build a confidence & mental toughness in him that will go beyond sports.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
