I think what she loves most about basketball, is the connection and chemistry she builds with her teammates. She loves being part of something that can grow and has the potential to become something greater. She also loves the energy of the game, encouraging her teammates, cheering them on, and bringing positive energy to the team. To her, basketball is about more than just playing.. it is about being part of something meaningful and helping the people around her grow too.
Erykah Badu inspires her because of the way she moves through life. She seems to take every experience, good or bad, as an opportunity to learn, grow, and do the work on herself. I think that really resonates with her because she tries to approach basketball and life in the same way. She understands that every experience can teach her something, and that growth comes from being willing to reflect, learn, and keep moving forward.
I’m most proud of how she has continued to grow through losses, setbacks, and injuries. She has learned to keep showing up even when things don’t go her way. Most importantly, she has learned not to let difficult experiences or other people take away her confidence. Watching her rebuild her belief in herself and keep moving forward has made me incredibly proud.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
