What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Nate loves challenging himself as an athlete. He enjoys the big and little moments that make his teams come together. Nate loves playing a two way game, hustling hard on his back checks and getting on a breakaway moment. He enjoys the physical aspect of his game.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Nate is most inspired by his parents who played AAA hockey and college basketball and who work hard who make sure Nate plays for a team and at a level that help him to love the game. He is grateful for parents who spend countless hours playing with him, building rinks and shooting targets and encouraging him. Nate is also inspired by some of his favourite athletes: Connor McDavid, Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews, Sydney Crosby and Nathan McKinnon!

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Nate makes me proud every time he steps on the floor or the ice. He exudes all great qualities you want to see in athletes. Hardworking, team first mentality, and selfless to advance the play. One moment that sticks out particularly is when Nate won a Humboldt Broncos Jersey at Little NHL tournament in Markham in his first year of hockey (Age 6) where he helped all of his indigenous (Mohawk)teammates accomplish goals of theirs instead of choosing selfish gameplay. Thats Nate!
