Nico loves the team aspect of sports most, being part of something bigger than himself, working alongside his teammates toward a shared goal, and building relationships along the way. He loves competing and challenging himself to improve, but the camaraderie, shared experiences, and opportunity to contribute to a team are what make football especially meaningful to him.
Nico said I am his inspiration. ❤️ As his mom and only parent, I’ve always tried to show him what hard work, commitment and perseverance look like. He says watching me keep going through challenges, while always supporting and believing in him, inspires him to do the same.
One of my proudest moments was when Nico made the decision to leave what was familiar and become part of a brand new school community and football program at Wellen Park High School. It took courage to choose a new path without knowing exactly what it would look like. He trusted himself, embraced the opportunity, and chose to be part of building something from the beginning. Watching him make that decision with confidence and maturity made me incredibly proud.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
