What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

I love that gymnastics challenges me physically and mentally. It has brought me some of my happiest moments, and some tears, but every challenge helps me grow. Gymnastics has taught me mental toughness, grace, and how to express myself while pushing beyond what I thought I could do. Most importantly, it has given me teammates and coaches who have become a second family. I’ve learned that balance isn’t just something you master on the beam; it’s something you learn in life.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Suni Lee inspires me because she returned to gymnastics after facing a serious illness. Her courage reminds me that setbacks don’t have to define what you can accomplish. I’m also inspired by my coach, Christine. She has taught me to stay driven while giving myself grace. She knows how to calm me when I’m too hard on myself and motivate me when things get difficult. She reminds me that strength isn’t just pushing harder, it’s believing in yourself enough to keep going.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

At her Level 5 State Championship, Nirisi delivered the beam routine she had struggled to put together all season. When the pressure was greatest, she trusted herself, her training, her coaches, and her teammates, and delivered. She went on to finish 2nd All-Around in the state while beating all her season-high scores. We were proud of the results, but even prouder of what they represented. She had learned that excellence requires both relentless effort and the grace to believe in yourself.
