What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Football lets him be himself. He makes new friends and learns new skills. It helps him understand his own faults and learn from them to try and improve. He is constantly growing and eager to learn more about the sport. He is disciplined and understands that he is on a team so works hard to encourage everyone around him. He is learning how to be a team player on and off the field. He is learning to grow into a young man that can lead, as well as follow.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

The two people that inspire him the most are his coaches, Neil Vandenbrink and Dave Woodey. They’ve taught him a lot. They’ve taught him how important it is to work hard and be dedicated, they’ve taught him that every little thing we do matters, that no matter how small the action is it does more than we think, and they’ve helped him learn how to handle hardships and losses but more importantly how to push through them and how to remain dedicated and resilient. He loves learning from them both.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

There are too many. When he is off the field he is encouraging his team to push harder and to stay positive. He isn’t negative on or off the field and he plays until the end without ever giving up. He made the CFL halftime show: Straight fire and I loved seeing that give him more motivation to be better. At his champion game they lost, but he won MVP defensive player of the game and that was a very proud moment too. Throughout his journey, I’ve loved seeing his passion for football grow the most
