What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

He enjoys being and competing with his friends. He is a natural born leader and often times leads by example. This past year, we’ve watched him overcome struggles with confidence and self-worth and truly begin to see what we’ve always seen in him. He has grown, he has believed in himself, and he has absolutely shined

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

He is inspired by many athletes (male and female) and his father. But in reality, his perseverance inspires us. He has never allowed his own obstacles to make him a selfish teammate, and he refuses to let them define him. His character is far more mature than his 10-year-old body.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

He recently suffered a complete ACL tear and will undergo reconstructive surgery. He’ll be out of all sports for the next 9–12 months, which is a lot for a 10-year-old athlete to process. He asked us if he could still be a part of his travel teams this year. He doesn’t want to step away. He still wants to be there, support his teammates, encourage them, learn, and simply be a part of the team, even when he can’t physically compete. That question says so much about who he is. A team player.
