What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

He loves soccer because it challenges him to grow—not only as a player, but as a person. After injury took him away from the game he loves, he gained a new appreciation for every practice, game and opportunity to compete. He loves improving, supporting his teammates and proving that difficult seasons can be overcome. Soccer has taught him that success is not just about winning—it is about continuing to pursue the journey when things get hard.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Cristiano Ronaldo is his favorite player and greatest athletic inspiration. He admires how Ronaldo has overcome adversity, criticism, setbacks and challenges through relentless hard work, discipline and belief in himself. That mindset has inspired him through his own injury and recovery. His faith and family also keep him grounded, reminding him to trust God, stay disciplined and keep pursuing his journey even when the road is difficult or others doubt what he can accomplish.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

As Paul’s parents, our proudest moment was watching him decide that injury would not define his story. He committed to physical therapy, strength training, stretching and recovery while working through the frustration of being away from soccer. Instead of only asking, “When can I play again?” he began thinking about how his experience could encourage others. That resilience became part of his cleat brand, PTJ Shoes, built around perseverance, faith and moving forward through adversity.
