He helps me get better, but we also have fun together.” To Penelope, her dad is more than a coach, he’s the person who’s always in her corner reminding her to work hard, believe in herself, have fun, and never be afraid to try.
Watching Penelope win in wrestling. She walked into a sport where she looked around and saw mostly boys, but she didn’t walk away. She overcame her nerves, stepped onto the mat, and left her heart on it. When she won, the best part for me, was seeing how proud she was of herself. In that moment, she realized she belonged there, and I’ll never forget it.
