What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Piper loves the competition and the relationships she makes on the field and the track. Even with competitors, she finds a way to connect with someone and learn from them.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Piper is so inspired by her older brother. She looks up to him as an athlete and as a person of strong character. He is always encouraging her to work hard and to stand proud whether you win or lose. She has learned to be gracious when she wins and humble when she loses.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Piper’s soccer team was competing at a national tournament. She fouled a girl from the other team and received a yellow card for it. Some parents were encouraging her to play rough and do it again. She told me after the game that she doesn’t want to be that type of player. She said it is more important to her that she plays with integrity and respect for her teammates and the opponents. That to me, is better than being the best player.
