What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What I love most about volleyball is the connection that comes from being part of a team. To be able to do what I love, while surrounded by people who also share the same love and passion for the sport is a beautiful thing. I feel incredibly lucky to love playing this sport, but what keeps me coming back for more is loving the people I get to share it with. Volleyball has given me more than a sport to play. It has given me a family, a community and lifelong memories.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

I’m inspired by the people around me who work hard and never give up, especially my coaches and teammates. Their dedication pushes me to keep challenging myself and to give my best every day. My family is also a huge source of inspiration. They support me, encourage me to keep working toward my goals, and remind me to keep pushing myself even when things get hard. They motivate me to become not only a better athlete, but also a better person.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

It’s not one moment that makes this mom proud. It’s every moment Quinn shows up by choosing her sport, goals and team. It’s her commitment to club practices, strength training, private lessons, and many afternoons of high school volleyball, all while staying on top of her schoolwork. Knowing how hard it can be for a teen to balance it all, watching Quinn work toward her goal of playing post-secondary volleyball, while rising above expectations, is what makes my heart sore with pride.
